this is what i have been working on for the last 4 months or so. its a commission i did for Mark Parker. it was so nice to work so large and to really spend some time on one thing and basically have all the freedom in the world. thanks to Brad at Loop-Tremont for letting me use his space to shoot this.
Scott this is a wonderful piece. Congratulations! Question...did you also detail the carriage, or did you find it as is? PS...Those snowflakes would make fantastic ornaments....next year perhaps? Keep me on your list. ;)
Well that's slightly gorgeous! The detail is amazing, I loooooooove it! Looks like a lot of hard work (and yeah 4 months worth, huh?) but it paid off. Happy holidays!
thank you! yes i've never worked so long on something. it feels great now but it was hard. i am so used to finishing up in a month or so and getting that finish high.
Gorgeous! All of this came out amazingly well, the babies are especially fantastic. Having free reign can be daunting but you really put together a great piece.
thanks. yeah it was like putting together 3 or 4 sets of work and trying to tie it all together as i am working on it. i was not used to that but i hope i can do it again sometime.
YOuch! Those are mind boggling! You've got organic and human-made forms really understood! Those textures and paintjobs boggle the mind into not being able to guess what materials you use.
thank you so much. it seems i can only pull off painting on a sculpture. i never feel comfortable on flat surfaces. i use a lot of magic sculpt, apoxy clay, everything else is wire and tape or whatever else i need to get the shape.
Is this piece titled? I love the flakes, as if each flake has a contained spirit! And the children, eerily apathetic. Great mood overall! What was the theme or purpose for the commission? And how were these fired? So impressive!

Those snowflakes would be cool as ornaments but being that small is seems that they might lose some of what makes them so interesting.
December 20 2008, 14:38:04 UTC 3 years ago
yeah they would have to be much smaller.
i'm not against it i'd just have to do them differently.
